When Winter Won’t Let Go: What We’re Growing This Spring at Flower & Twine

Um yay another storm.

This winter has felt especially long. Heavy. The kind that makes even the most optimistic feel a little worn down. The days are short, the ground is frozen, and motivation feels harder to come by than usual.

And yet — spring is coming. Even if it doesn’t feel like it today.

At Flower & Twine, we’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to tend something slowly, even when the season around us feels stuck. This spring, we’re creating space for growth — creative, literal, and communal — in ways that feel grounding rather than overwhelming.

A Small Creative Reset

In early March, we’ll be producing a small editorial styled shoot in a greenhouse setting — intentionally timed for this in-between moment.

This creative reset also serves as the final project for our floral mentee, Sandra of Your Rooted Moments, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to work alongside her. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be guiding and supporting Sandra as she develops and leads a full floral installation — from concept and color story through execution and collaboration.

The concept is simple: bring color and life forward before the season officially turns.

The shoot will explore a tropical-inspired palette set against early spring light — a visual reminder that growth doesn’t wait for perfect conditions. This project is part of our ongoing mentorship work at Flower & Twine, designed to give emerging designers hands-on experience in creative direction, collaboration, and editorial production in a real, supportive environment.

It’s not about perfection or spectacle. It’s about creating something thoughtful, warm, and alive — even while winter lingers.

We’re keeping this collaboration intentionally small and curated, and connecting with photographers, stylists, and creatives who are craving meaningful, portfolio-driven work rather than more noise.

The Garden Studio: Growing Something Real

Alongside our creative projects, we’re also opening our Garden Studio plots for the season — and this is something we’re especially excited about.

These plots aren’t just about planting flowers or vegetables. They’re about having a place to show up — consistently — as the season changes. A place where progress is slow, tangible, and reassuring. Where growth is measured in weeks, not minutes.

Garden Studio members will have support from our Flower & Twine staff, along with guidance from some truly wonderful local gardening experts we’re excited to collaborate with this season. Whether you’re brand new to gardening or looking to deepen your practice, you won’t be doing it alone.

And yes — we cannot wait to make the front yard beautiful. This spring, it will become a shared, living space that reflects care, creativity, and the joy of watching something come to life together.

Our Garden Studio is designed for people who:

  • Want structure without pressure

  • Are tired of rushing from one thing to the next

  • Crave hands-in-the-dirt work as a counterbalance to daily life

  • Want to be part of a small, thoughtful community

There will be check-ins, shared knowledge, and moments of gathering — but no expectation to “do it all.” Just space to tend something and let it unfold.

This Season Is an Invitation

This spring isn’t about doing more.
It’s about doing what matters — a little more intentionally.

Whether that looks like collaborating on a creative project, tending a garden plot, or simply stopping by the studio to talk through what you’re craving next — we’re here for it.

If you’re interested in:

Spring is coming — even if today doesn’t look like it yet. 🌱
